Fixed Term Tenancies - Some of the registered providers (landlords) are now advertising fixed term tenancies. In the past all the homes we have advertised under our social housing banner have been life time tenancies. However you will notice that some properties are now advertised as fixed term tenancies. You will find details of this in the full details part of an advert. This page is aimed at helping you to understand what a fixed term tenancy is, however if you want more information please contact the homechoice team on 0300 123 5031 |
How are fixed term properties being advertised?
They will be advertised under the social housing banner on the property search on the Cheshire homechoice website.
What is a fixed term tenancy?
Rather than offering a tenancy that can be in place for life these tenancies will have a fixed term, some will be 5 years some might be 20 years. Please read the full details of each advert to ensure you understand what you are applying for.
Is this going to affect all the homes advertised on homechoice?
NO - the properties will be clearly marked as fixed term. Supported and over 55's flats & bungalows will continue to be offered as lifetime tenancies. Fixed term tenancies will mainly apply to family homes & general needs flats.

2. The tenancy will come to an end after 5 years and will need to be re-issued by the landlord, this means IT MAY NOT BE A HOME FOR LIFE
3. If the property is also advertised as an affordable rental, the rent may also be higher on a fixed term tenancy than a traditional social rent.
4. Only a spouse or a partner will have the right to succeed the fixed term tenancy.
NOT ALL THE LANDLORDS ARE THE SAME
Please read each advert carefully, our different providers will be offering different terms and conditions with their fixed term tenancies and the information above is meant as a guide.
