Cheshire homechoice encourages anyone over the age of 16 and in housing need to apply to use our services. There are some people, however, who may not be able to join the register for social housing. This includes people that may be ineligible because of their immigration status or people that have built up significant or persistent rent arrears. We may also exclude households who have been behaving in an unacceptable way, for instance, by taking part in anti-social behaviour such as harassment, vandalism, or criminal activity. |
In all cases, Cheshire homechoice will make a full and fair assessment of each households suitability to be tenants with one of our partners. When you apply to join our scheme you will be asked to provide some documentation (which will be copied and returned to you) This will be used to ensure that you are eligible to take a tenancy from one of our partners and to join our housing register.
If you are refused access to Social Housing or Affordable rented properties there may be other options open to you. Please contact the homechoice team on 0300 123 5031 to ask about your alternative housing options.
Before you are offered a property you will be asked to provide further documents to support your application. We will tell you what documents to provide and when to provide them.
The eligibility for Homes to Buy, will differ slightly, in cases for these you must also be able to obtain a mortgage to the value of the property or, in cases of shared ownership, to the value of your share in the property.
All documents provided must NOT be originals, but must be up-to-date copies and valid.
For a full list of acceptable documents contact the homechoice Team on 0300 123 5031
