Housing Benefit Changes - How will benefit reform affect the rents paid to Social Tenants

Peaks & Plains Housing Trust have recently started to advertise fixed term tenancies. These are different from the lifetime tenancies traditionally offered by the Registered Social Housing Providers that advertise on homechoice. Wulvern Housing Trust will soon be advertising some affordable rent properties, have a look at our affordable rents page to get a better idea of what these properties are about. Cheshire East Council are now advertising affordable homes to buy. These are properties sold at a discounted property value and are aimed at first time buyers. Applicants will need to be eligible for a mortgage to afford these and we would strongly recommend that you contact an independent mortgage advisor before applying for one of these properties.

Current tenants of Housing Associations or Trusts can also swap their property with other tenants. This is a completely separate process to homechoice and we recommend you speak to your current landlord and/or visit http://www.homeswapper.co.uk/
