An officer from your landlord can offer help and assistance via the downsizing scheme.  You may be entitled to help with the process of moving; assistance can include the following:

• Removals
• Disconnection and reconnection of domestic appliances
• Telephone reconnection
• Assistance in registering to join Homeswapper (click here for more details on Homeswapper)
• Assistance in registering on Cheshire homechoice

 What is the downsizing scheme?

The scheme is supported by the Cheshire and Warrington Housing Alliance to help people in those areas move to smaller, more manageable accommodation. The scheme is run by Registered Providers (Housing Associations) in the area and can support tenants in social housing with practical assistance who would like to move to a smaller home.

 How does downsizing work?

To find out if you are eligible for the scheme and would like to register your interest in downsizing, please contact your landlord. When you are successful in securing a more suitable home via either of these routes, your landlord will discuss the package of options which may be needed to best support you in your move.

 Please note: Households wishing to take advantage of this scheme must have a clear rent account and not be the subject of any current antisocial behaviour case or any tenancy breaches.
